Redundancy guide · Great Britain
What weekly pay should I use for redundancy?
GOV.UK describes weekly pay as your average weekly earnings over the 12 weeks before the day you received redundancy notice. Use gross figures and check which earnings count if your pay varies.
Check the reference period
Ask payroll to identify the pay periods and earnings it included. If your hours fluctuate, you were on leave or pay changed recently, get the correct weekly figure before relying on the estimate. Keep your payslips and the date you received notice.
Use the statutory redundancy pay calculator to estimate the statutory component for the 2026/27 rate period in England, Scotland or Wales.
