How to claim redundancy if your employer is insolvent

If an employer is formally insolvent, eligible employees may be able to apply for statutory redundancy and certain unpaid amounts through the government service. Different rules and limits apply to different claims.

Get your case reference

Ask the insolvency practitioner for the case reference and gather your payslips, contract and dismissal letter. Use the official claim service to check which amounts you can apply for and when. Keep any confirmation for follow-up.

Use the statutory redundancy pay calculator to estimate the statutory component for the 2026/27 rate period in England, Scotland or Wales.
