How to calculate statutory redundancy pay
Work out the number of weeks first, then multiply by the eligible weekly pay. Count backwards in full years from the relevant date and use up to 20 years of continuous service.
Worked example
Someone whose eight counted years all fall in the 22–40 band and whose eligible weekly pay is £550 would receive an estimated £4,400. If weekly pay exceeds the statutory cap, use the cap in the multiplication. Ask payroll to show its working if its estimate differs.
Use the statutory redundancy pay calculator to estimate the statutory component for the 2026/27 rate period in England, Scotland or Wales.
